Mason first letter of 2010 -- Jan 4, 2010

Hey family.

Well sounds like this week has been really good for everyone. I heard from everyone about the story with mom falling over and almost killing a little girl so that must've been the highlight of the week. I wish I could've seen it. Also I feel great knowing that the only name that Callin knows is Mason. I knew I was his favorite.

But yes I have a new companion and I'm still in La Ceiba. He is a gringo from Idaho, his name is Elder Brown. He is also the new district leader and he's been out on the mission for 14 months. He's a really hard worker and I like it a lot. I'm super grateful for a companion that works really hard and does missionary work right. I was getting pretty frustrated with my last companion because he didn't work hard and just liked to visit members and stuff like that. I tried to talk to him about it and work harder and change some stuff, but of course he didn't listen to me because he was my trainer and knew everything. So my prayers have been answered and I'm finally working like I want.
It was weird though cause I thought all the members liked Gonzalez. But the members never helped us out much with the work. So I was confused. The day he left my cook just vented it all out to me about how much she didn't like Gonzalez and told me stuff he would do and I guess that's why we weren't getting any help from the members. He was really disliked here and I guess the members would call the AP´s and tell them to change my companion so that I could work and stuff like that.
Pretty screwed up and I didn't know about all that. But it's all good now. we work super super hard and I love it. Everything's awesome, but I did learn some great things from Gonzalez and still like the guy and everything. His style of work was just not like mine, actually it didn't really exist.
So this week we worked a lot and got a lot of great possibilities. One of the members took us around in his truck to see the whole area, because I still don't know this area well because it's huge. Then he took us to like 4 families that he had as references. I guess the elders before Gonzalez had taught them a little and they were preparing them for baptism. So we have some great possibilities and the members are starting to help us a ton more with the work. I'm really grateful for it.

So this week has just been awesome. We worked really hard and we have some good people right now. I know we are going to be blessed with success here. Sorry I don't have much time to write because the computer freaked out and erased my first email!
Sorry. But i love you all. Elder Mason Cardon
