Mason's letter -- March 15, 2010

Hey family,

Thanks for all your emails this week it sounded like a good weekend and I can't believe Liz is already home from her mission. Also that is sick where Beanz is going! and the same mission as Kayd, wow that's cool. I'm so proud of Cal, he is going to be a star... just like his uncle... Trevin. haha

This week was really good for us. We just got back from a museum of butterflies and insects and stuff. We were holding big old beetles and tarantulas, so I'll send you some pictures of that, it was pretty cool.

We ended up changing the Martinez family's baptism date for this Sunday before church and we are going to baptize them all. The little girl will turn 8 that day, and the mom accepted that date. She said she was waiting to be baptized with her little girl. So we have 5 dates for this weekend, I'm really excited for that. Claudia still is feeling sick from dropping so much smoking, but Edgardo is so cool. He already has a big testimony and he loves the church so much, he already filled out a tithing slip to pay his tithing the next Sunday. in Honduras we call that PILAS! [insert here from Grant, "pilas" in Spanish means "batteries" and it must be a local slang term referring to this man's spiritual energy and excitement].

So this week we worked a lot to get this thing figured out for Pedro and Ingris. We went to the members and have been getting some money, so we went and bought a Paper of Permission at the bank and it turns out there is a lawyer in the ward that is going to do all the paper work this week for free. So sometime this week we have to send the paper down to Tegucigalpa and get it signed. That's all we have now and everything has gone really smoothly with that. We should have all the papers by the end of the month, maybe even before that. So if everything works out this month we will meet our goal and reach 8 baptisms!

The days are getting really hot here. A couple more weeks and we will hit Holy Week, the hottest week of the year, I think it's in April sometime. So the days are getting hotter and hotter. I'm just glad I'm on the beach where it's not as hot, but I'm pretty sure I'll be somewhere else by then.

We found some sweet new investigators this week. One lady we found has been living without power for like a month now because the people that live above her haven't payed rent to her. They are like sick or something and can't pay so instead of kicking them out so she can have power, she has let them live there. she's super humble and loves the gospel. She's really an inspiration to me.

Typical week. I'm really happy with all the work that we have and I'm excited to see what happens this change.

Love Elder Mason Cardon... 6 months!
