Hey family,
This week was a pretty good week. The Martinez family got baptized.....well the dad and the two sons. The mom and the little girl still hadn't gotten baptized. She said she wanted to wait one more week because the little girl was sick and the mom was having female problems. Gosh darn female problems! But she said she will get baptized this Saturday with her daughter. Let's hope that goes through. I think she has some problems that we need to find and deal with.
I was really upset about that this week because transfers are this Wednesday and I was sure I was leaving and was going to miss her baptism. But we found out the transfers today in the morning and it turns out I'm staying in La Ceiba for another change with Elder Brown. So I will be here for 6 months, pretty crazy but it will be good. There aren't many companionships that stay together for 3 changes, or Elders that stay for 6 months in an area. Elder Brown has never stayed in an area for longer than 2 changes. I guess I am just meant to be here in La Ceiba. I'm glad I will get to be here to finish off the work with the Martinez family and Pedro and Ingris.
Yeah mom that Bryon kid got baptized and he's doing really good in the church. He leaves with us to appointments probably 3 or 4 times a week. He spent the whole day with us yesterday, so he's cool. He will be a good missionary one day. and I'm glad you liked the pictures, I thought you would like them, and I would've taken more but my batteries ran out. Stupid batteries have been a struggle my whole mission, the batteries here are crappy! They last like 1 week and die. I think I will buy rechargeable ones.
So this week was either really hot or rained a ton. Today was super floody. We put on our huge rubber boots and went out in the morning to the chapel to play basketball with the elders because there are a lot of gringos in the zone. But we got out in the streets and it was crazy, the most flooded its ever been. In one area the water went up and over and filled my huge boots that almost go to my knee haha. So yeah super wet day today. This next week will be the hottest week of the year and I'm looking forward to that...not. It will be really miserable.
The bishop and his wife gave a mattress pad to Pedro and Ingris this week and it really lifted their spirits. They have been kinda depressed with the whole situation they have gone through in this process to do the right thing. They feel like they are getting pounded with obstacle after obstacle in this marriage process. This week they got their TV and chairs and little table taken away because they belonged to a neighbor. So they were really sad. They have been sleeping on the floor with a small blanket. So the bishop gave them a bed and a small table and stuff. It really lifted their spirits a lot. I never thought I would take for granted a crappy mattress and the sheets that I have haha.
But this week was really good. I'm excited to be here for another change and hope we can continue to have success. I really want to reach our goal of 8 baptisms this month, and if all goes well with Pedro and Ingris and sister Martinez we will leave with 9. So pray for all of that to go through.
Oh also this week we went to a house of an investigator girl of about 17 years. She wants to get baptized and stuff but her family doesn't want her to go to our church. So we passed by at the time she told us and she wasn't there. So my comp and I turned to walk away and go to the next appointment, but I felt like we should ask them if we could share a message with them. I didn't think them would accept because they are always a little bit rude to us. But she said yes we could. So we went in and shared a message with her family. Turns out the aunt of hers (who she lives with) was having some problems and she really accepted the message well and we are going to start working with them. So that was an awesome thing.
Sorry this is late, the power went off and I couldn't finish so we had to come back after our family home evening with the Martinez family.
Love ya all, Elder Mason Cardon.
