Mason's letter -- May 7, 2011

Hey fam,

This week was a pretty good week for us here. We did a mission activity in the branch this week (apparently they hadn't done one for more than a year) so there were a lot of members that actually showed up. It was good and there were quite a few investigators (7 in total). 3 people from the big family that we found went. And those 3 also went to church on Sunday. They really liked it so that was good. The other day the branch president was talking to us and said that they really needed our help to make the branch into a ward, they only need 3 more Melchizedek Priesthood holders. So he really wanted us to help them reactivate priesthood and stuff. We are totally trying to help them do that as well. We just baptized a man (Rigoberto) and I have talked to the pres every single week so that he can be ordained. He finally should get it this week.

Be sure to always try to look for those who are lonely in church or who need to be befriended. many times we get caught up in the comfort of our own friends, that many times we don't branch out and help those who really need our friendship. That could make all the difference in someones life.

We got to go to La Ceiba and Colon for the interviews this week. So it was great to leave the office and travel a bit. Oh, and me and elder Jackson are holding the ball because in their gym the hoop is less than 8 feet tall so we had just got done with a little dunk contest haha. In La Ceiba we went on divisions with an area that has been struggling alot. Last week they were so dis animated that they only taught like 5 lessons (you can do that in one day here).

So we went there to see what was going on. They just have lost faith and are completely set that there absolutely doesn't exist anyone who wants to listen to them. So we went there and really wanted to find some families. it went really good. I went with the junior comp and we found a complete family and entered the house and taught them and everything on the very first contact we did. Then we went to another family that they were about to drop and had a good lesson and put the baptismal date with them. My comp went with the senior comp (who is DL as well) and found like 3 complete families. So it was a success. I have such a testimony of faith and having a positive attitude. If someone doesn't think there is anyone who will listen to them... then it's probable that nobody will listen. But if a missionary has faith and really believes that he will find families... then he will baptize families.

This morning we went to a crocodile farm. It was way cool. They have over 10 thousand crocs and they also have lions and panthers and some other animals. We only paid 4 bucks to get in and they let us do what ever we wanted. We got to hold some baby crocs and bug some giant ones haha. In the states they would yell at you for doing that, but here the guides just laugh haha. it was fun.

Well I'm excited to talk to you all tomorrow. I might call just to make sure everything is all set.

Elder Cardón
