Mason's letter -- April 19, 2010

Hey family,

This week was once again super hot. I can't believe how hot it gets around here still. I think I sweat out all the water I drink haha. Just kidding. But this week was a pretty good one, but kinda slow in the work area. we just had a lot of meetings and stuff so we didn't have much time to work. On Thursday we had interviews with the President. It's his second to last interviews before we get our new mission pres... Pres Viers. a gringo. It was really good and I love our president, he is a really great guy. but he didn't say anything to me if I was leaving or staying in La Ceiba. Sometimes he tells the elders or gives them a hint at least. But I still have no clue. I think I will leave though in the first part of May. What day is Mothers Day? We will have to figure that all out. But we will see what the Lord has in store for me. I'm excited for whatever will happen.

On Saturday we had our baptism with Tiara. She was really excited for it and has changed her life a lot. So now we are starting to teach her aunt and her brother. Her brother wants to get baptized too now. So we will continue to work with them, it's a nice bonus that we get to speak English haha. As for their cousin that was healed... he is still in Roatan and nobody knows when he's coming back. I sure hope he comes home soon. we will have to call him or something this week I think.

Yesterday at church brother Martinez got set-apart as young men's president. So that was really cool. Also our ward mission leader got released, so we don't have one now in Independencia. I don't know if that's a blessing or not, because he was pretty prejudiced towards us and told us a number of times he didn't like gringos so he never really worked with us in the first place. But we will see if we get a new one or what. I can't really think of anyone, everyone else already has a calling.

But good news for once with Pedro and Ingris. Her mom called and said she wants to come here to La Ceiba to take out the papers for the wedding. So we went today and paid for a bus ticket for her with the money that the members gave us awhile ago. So she will get here tomorrow and we will do all of that this weekend. This last week Pedro had kind of had enough of all the trials and stuff and he said he didn't want to go to church anymore for awhile. He has just been fed up with all the job problems and the problems with the wedding. So I spoke to him a lot and we read some scriptures and I tried my best to help him get motivated again. We went back the next day and we talked to him again and the words we said really got to him and now he's all good again and wanted to make us baleadas [insert here: a baleada is a thick flour tortilla folded in half and filled with mashed fried beans, cheese and sometimes various meats and salsas--it is very traditional Honduran food]. haha

So it's all good there, Just a little stumble. But I had to deal with all of that one the day that I was on divisions in my area with a kid that got way sick and stuff. So he didn't ever talk all day and he walked super slow everywhere. So we finally just went back to the house that day and I let him sleep. So we didn't get much done that day. But it's fine now. Let's hope that we have no more problems with them. We will probably baptize the cousin of Ingris too. She has been living at her house with a guy who they are making move out tomorrow...she's only 15. But she wants to get baptized with Pedro and Ingris. We will see if she's ready by then

Today we are going to Jaquey's house because it's her birthday. I think shes making us pizza or something, So that should be fun. but other than that we are just going to work all week and have a normal one. I'm looking forward to a normal week though, cause we need to really work hard. Sorry this email is kind of boring, But I'll talk to you all next week.

Love you.
Elder Mason Cardon
